You can do a set field action and get the value back form the DB in a filter.

And if you really can not get ARS Web Services to do what you want
them to do... you could always write one using the Java API and
publish it yourself.

Or...

If you want to buy something then you could look give the "The XML
Gateway" a try. (REF: www.javasystemsolutions.com) [ Note: I have
never tired it.)
