Sounds like the script isn't correlated correctly. 9 times out of 10, that is
usually the problem when a script won't replay. Really depends on the error in
the error logs though.

Ok...I ended up sitting through about a 2 hour session with my LoadRunner guy
today...apparently what's happening is they are trying to track certain events
within dialog windows. When they went into their logged script afterwards they
found that there was nothing between the 'start of event' and 'end of event'
brackets...so they thought nothing was being logged...it just wasn't logging it
between the brackets...so tragedy averted...but here is another question...in
case anyone knows

LoadRunner seems to track allot of information that I wouldn't think an
automation tool would need....but it doesn't seem to be able to replay the
login sequence...any advice?...I'll do some web searching to see if I can help
them out...:)

We have used Loadrunner successfully against Midtier 6.0, 6.3 and 7.01. We
have not tried using it against 7.1 though. Remedy Midtier is a fairly
standard java application. If the people creating the scripts in loadrunner
have used it against a java application before, it should work similarly.

thanks
Kelly

No, I haven't used Load Runner - not directly anyways. A team doing testing on
one of my projects I had been on in the past has used it against ARS 6.3. I
don't recall them having complain about the same thing.

this is happening on ALL dialog windows in the app...not just a single one...so
it appears to be some sort of limitation of the application when trying to do
automatic testing on the Mid-Tier...do you currently run load runner and are
unable to duplicate or have it functioning in the same situation?

Have you tried opening the dialog box on the user tool and seen if you have
some sort of unexpected behavior as well?

What are the actions defined on Window Open/Loaded when that dialog is opened?
Maybe one of more actions defined is causing this?

All over Mid-Tier...this app is not used via Native Client at all. What the
testing team is telling me is that load runner tracks clicks, load times, etc.
As soon as the dialog is opened they are unable to collect any data on what
events are occurring nor timing metrics of any sort. They again regain
collecting as soon as the window closes. Everything happening is through
Remedy and non of it is unsupported...just standard set fields and the sort.
Is anyone successfully running Roadrunner against Remedy Mid-Tier?

What exactly do you mean by saying that you loose visibility to the application?

Does whatever you say is happening, happen only when you open that dialog in
the Mid-Tier? Does it work alright over the native client?

What are the actions that are defined to fire on opening that form (On Window
Open / Loaded actions)? Any actions unsupported by the Mid-Tier?

Our test team is saying that when they try to do performance testing as soon as
mid-tier opens a popup window (Open Window Action : Dialog) they loose
visibility to the application. Has anyone experienced something similar and is
there anything I can do to help them get it working on Mid-Tier 7.1
