Joe,

As far as I know it would only work at the ARS Filter layer. My
understanding is that AIE uses the ARS API [and/or the CMDB api that
is based on the ARS api] to create/update ARS data. ( Although I have
yet to find in the docs the exact conditions that the filters would
need to be set to fire on, I would guess Merge.)

Maybe that point in time is to late for your comparisons in AIE?
If so you may need to keep the "unformated" versions in hidden values
so that the comparisons can be done to those values.
