We ran into this - basically the e-mail service was starting before the
AR Server process so I guess the e-mail service never gets initialized
properly but it carries on its way as if it did. We did our own registry
edits to make the e-mail service dependant on the ar server service so
that it would start up at the proper time and we haven't run into this
problem anymore.

If your e-mail service isn't on the same box as your ar server then this
solution probably isn't for you.

Did they update the JavaPath in the EmailStart.bat to the new jre
directory?

Subject: Email Engine Does Not Work After Reboot

**

Hi everyone:

Anyone ever seen this before? The Email Engine at a remote site I
support is acting up. The service is set to automatic, but when the
server is rebooted-even though the service says it's started-email does
not flow. If the administrator restarts the service, however, the email
flows and everything seems fine...until the server is rebooted. So
restarting the service after a reboot "fixes" the problem, but why does
the service hang after a reboot?

Maybe related and maybe not: The site upgraded their JRE from 1.4.2_17
to 1.4.2_18 last week, and that's when the trouble started. Could just
be a coincidence, but it's still highly suspect.
