Peter, well I think I found a temp solution for the time being.. I noticed that when I deselected the SLM collector (something they say they are not interested in) from the installation screen I dont get prompted for the Database connection info..

Damn!! Now can I carry on with the instalation using the Windows only authentication (althought our database is mixed mode) and then try and fixed the problem later?!? Also does anyone have the sql for fixing this..i.e creatting the user, role, making dbowner etc... sorry but need to get done completed withing an hour and do not have time.
