Well, I won't be the one to do it, however, our dba will... We're
contemplating the idea of moving away from our current IBM AIX 5.3
platform to Windows 2008 server with a fresh install of ARS7.6 and
Applications on a fresh Oracle 10g box. And we'd like an idea, if that
is even feasible, on how long will it take the dba to migrate the 600gig
of data to that identical Oracle 10g box.
below is our current Production hardware specs.
Current Prod Platform:
IBM AIX 5.3 64bit
4 CPU Dual core
8GB RAM
ARS7.1 P4
ITSM7.0.03 P7
CMDB2.0.1 P9
_Oracle 10g_
IBM AIX 5L V5.3 64bit
4 CPU dual
16gig RAM

There are many ways to perform this task. To name a few:
1) perform a cold backup of the database -> copy to new server
2) export/import
3) using data pump
4) using oracle's database creation assistant (DBCA)
My recommendation is, if you are not familiar with these terms/tools.
Find a DBA. What version of Oracle are you going from to?

Subject: Oracle 10g Data Migration
Does anyone know approximately how long will it take to replicate a
database server of 600gig of data to another Oracle server box? And
what's the best tool out there to make that feasible quick and easy?
