Hi Vi, I had a similar problem where a 6.3 custom form "Trouble Ticket" was closed while there were child Tasks still open. Open Tasks were shown on a table. I added an active link on close that refreshes the table and then walks through it. Then if Column1 != $NULL$ then Error Message to stop the close action.
In my situation I had to check two tables so I used an active link guide. Works great. If you need more details let me know.
