A magic combination would be nice. Even on a pure custom system I have to break up the def by object type (where I still can export the entire server at once with the Admin tool).

I just understood the basic concept of GC in a VM. That was an interesting read and gave me some more insight on what GC is and how it works. I think I'll try G1 with DS. Maybe I'll find a magic configuration that will allow me to export a full server def like the old days (admittedly I don't think I've tried with 7.6.04 GA release). Every Java developer tends to have a different opinion of how best to optimize a VM, what garbage collector to use, etc. Here at JSS, we develop with the "bulk standard" deployment, because that's what the majority will use. If you fancy some fun with Garbage Collectors, try the Sun Garbage First (next generation) GC.
