Note that there is a tricky dialog in the installation, even if you have set up 64bit JDK and JRE and it has found them, it starts with the default of using a 32bit java for several things due to known issues with the 64bit implementations. If these known issues are not a problem for you (things like not being able to use OLE with Developer), then you need to uncheck the boxes on this dialog that are checked by default. Then you will be using pure 64bit java.
