And views are generally preferable as if (for whatever reason) the underlying table gets renamed, you can still keep the same view name, and recreate the view, keeping the view form in the AR System intact..
This is specially the case if the view form is against an internal AR System table, where the table name across environments may not be the same depending on the method you use to promote your customizations or development to prod. Even if the table name is not the same, the view name stays consistent.
