We had the problem before and one workaround for this is that you have to enable "Development Cache Mode" and "Disabled Escalations", and select "Cache only Display Server Properties" on your admin server through the AR Admin Console. Then restart the AR System before adding the new attribute to your class through the mid-tier. The process would take at least a good couple of mins. Hope that helps.
