What led you decide to remove indexes from the form? Why do you think removing indexes will help? What problem you are addressing there? How sure your DBA about his comment on performance impact due to FTS index enabled on those fields? As far as I know there should not be any problem having indexes created on these fields. The goal of FTS is following:
