Sweety, Yes, you can definitely take it with you on your laptop. I use VMWare on my laptop. Create your VM. You can use Windows 7 Professional or Windows Server 2008 as the OS. They must be 64-bit. You will have to license this OS separately just as if it were on your system. I would dedicate at least 8gb of RAM, and at least a few processors to the VM. Mine is set up with 8gb RAM and 4 cores. While you do not need to have the same configuration as a server, you do need to give it enough resources to run efficiently. Make sure you install the 64-bit JDK (will also install the JRE for you) first, then your db of choice (mine is MS SQL 2008), which will also need a license. If you run the stack installer, it will give you everything you need - tomcat, web, etc. to run Remedy. You will also need a Remedy license for your installation, if you want to do any serious development work. Good luck!

I wonder how to do this and have couple of questions. 1) I want to carry the image with me all the time on my laptop, so do I need to first install everything - database, java, tomcat, remedy on a single server? 2) Which is the best and free tool to create VM image? If it is not free then suggest the best one, my organization is rich enough to pay for it. 3) Do I need to appy license for both Server and my laptop or just one license is enought for remedy? 4) Is it required to have same hardware configuration for my laptop as that of a server on which I created VM image? Please provide your valuable suggestions and inputs. My requirement is I should be able to access remedy 24x7 with the help of my laptop. _______________________________________________________________________________ UNSUBSCRIBE or access ARSlist Archives at www.arslist.org "Where the Answers Are, and have been for 20 years" _______________________________________________________________________________ UNSUBSCRIBE or access ARSlist Archives at www.arslist.org "Where the Answers Are, and have been for 20 years"
