Hi, 1) I want to carry the image with me all the time on my laptop, so do I need to first install everything - database, java, tomcat, remedy on a single server?
Yes, and you will also need to install an operating system. I use Scientific Linux and the Developer version of Oracle as these are free. If you are more familiar with Windows it might be worth getting an extra copy of a 64-bit linux for the VM. 2) Which is the best and free tool to create VM image? If it is not free then suggest the best one, my organization is rich enough to pay for it. I use https://www.virtualbox.org/ 3) Do I need to appy license for both Server and my laptop or just one license is enought for remedy? If you are on the new/blue licensing model for Remedy, your company can get extra server licenses without paying extra. 4) Is it required to have same hardware configuration for my laptop as that of a server on which I created VM image? If you do not install ITSM, you can probably get by with much less than 8Gb of memory for the VM. I have 2Gb configured for my 8.1/linux/oracle VM which works ok.
