Wasn't that Moore of just a ticketing system and not a full ITSM solution?

I would agree that it is difficult to test everything, but I think it should be obvious if 79 active links disappeared from the system after installation. It should not have ever been posted on the Download site until it was properly vetted. Does BMC spend enough money on quality control anymore? You need to ask yourself an existential question: Is it more important to beat some release date set by the Sales or Marketing department with an inferior product, or is it more important to keep your customers happy so that they don’t jump ship? It is a tough market out there for ITSM. Unfortunately, BMC is no longer the go-to product for ITSM. People who make decisions on whether to keep or replace Remedy ITSM are losing patience with a product that is difficult to upgrade because of poor quality controls. That’s why I said that we need to be able to defend our Remedy kingdom and you are not helping us with these mishaps. What do you need to do to make yourself a better software company? Is it money for more people and equipment for testing labs? Is it more resources for R & D? I don’t want to speak for the Remedy community, but I’m sure people on this list would be happy to email a BMC VP to voice concerns over these repeated product issues and ask them to provide more resources for your team, or offer advice on how to communicate more effectively with us. We are all in this together and if there is something you need from us to help you become the best, please ask. To answer your question, Remedy people are either here or the BMC Communities, so you should post warnings to both places at the same time. Perhaps warnings could be sent to our L1 support organizations so that they can also warn us. However, we need you to get to the point where you release a Service Pack and it does not necessitate a hot fix. Rome is burning and the Barbarians are at the gates (SNOW). Every time that I read an ARSlist post like this I can’t help but think that BMC is not helping our cause, but instead they taking away our armor to defend the Remedy kingdom from the constant attacks of marauding bands of SNOW, CA, and HP sales barbarians. I implore BMC to spend some of that private equity money on Quality Assurance testing and stop making poorly-tested code available to us. I don’t want to see the carcass of Remedy being eaten by a SNOW vulture. We, who are on the frontlines, cannot defend the kingdom by ourselves. Fortunately we had another installation that had the forms/workflow. Mine was (according to BMC) due to an issue with installing the SLM module - They said it removed something like 79 items. it is a known issue and there is a KB (unfortunately I did not save the KB number - and a hot fix - but you need to actually ASK BMC for the hot fix - it's apparently not published. AND I downloaded but did not try to apply the hot fix. Figured it was better to correct it manually than to waste time with BMC. I had installed ITSM 8.1 Patch 002 and was working with it for several months and everything was working fine. On an new VM, I installed ITSM 8.1 SP1 (brand new install) with no error messages. Working with BMC on a couple of support issues, there seems to be a lot of "code" missing from the application. Things that worked before, no longer work in SP1. Active links not there, AL Guides not there, data not there, etc. Anyone experience this or is it just something that may be local to my install ? I don't have a lot of hair left on my head and would like to save it for my retirement years... :-) Terry _ARSlist: "Where the Answers Are" and have been for 20 years_ _______________________________________________________________________________ UNSUBSCRIBE or access ARSlist Archives at www.arslist.org "Where the Answers Are, and have been for 20 years" _ARSlist: "Where the Answers Are" and have been for 20 years_ _______________________________________________________________________________ UNSUBSCRIBE or access ARSlist Archives at www.arslist.org "Where the Answers Are, and have been for 20 years" _ARSlist: "Where the Answers Are" and have been for 20 years_ Information contained in this email is subject to the disclaimer found by clicking on the following link: http://www.lyondellbasell.com/Footer/Disclaimer/ _ARSlist: "Where the Answers Are" and have been for 20 years_ _ARSlist: "Where the Answers Are" and have been for 20 years_ Information contained in this email is subject to the disclaimer found by clicking on the following link: http://www.lyondellbasell.com/Footer/Disclaimer/ __________ Information from ESET Mail Security, version of virus signature database 9831 (20140521) __________ The message was checked by ESET Mail Security. http://www.eset.com _ARSlist: "Where the Answers Are" and have been for 20 years_ Blue Turtle Technologies (Pty) Limited | Reg. no.: 2003/002610/07 | http://www.blueturtle.co.za Gauteng : Tel: +27 (0)11 206 5600 | Fax: +27 (0)86 208 0237 | Midridge Office Estate, International Business Gateway, cnr New Road & Sixth Street, Midrand, 1685 | P O Box 31331, Kyalami, 1684 Western Cape: Tel: +27 (0)87 702 1867 | Fax: +27 (0)21 552 7764 | Unit E6, Century Square, Heron Crescent, Century City, Cape Town, 7446 DISCLAIMER: This email and any files transmitted with it are confidential and are intended solely for the use of the individual or entity to whom they are addressed.
