Most of the administrative tasks can be equally achieved through the UI or
through Artifactory’s extensive REST API
<http://www.jfrog.com/confluence/display/RTF/Artifactory+REST+API> which
can be used using tools like cURL and many of the scripting and programming
languages.
With respect to backend configuration you will have to be more specific. As
for changing the location of the logs, though this cannot be changed, you
can always symlink a directory to your desired location.
By default Artifactory’s logs are rotated every 25MB. This means that when
a log reaches a content of 25MB it will be closed and that Artifactory will
start writing into a new file. You may archive these files with external
tools of your choice.
You can learn more on installing Artifactory on Linux here
<http://www.jfrog.com/confluence/display/RTF/Installing+on+Linux+Solaris+or+Mac+OS>
and search for specific instructions on the public wiki
<http://www.jfrog.com/confluence/pages/viewpage.action?pageId=25067914>
according to the relevant topic/question.
