The settings.xml functionality is the same as it's always been. The
snippit you're talking about does not have the passwords and so on in it.
You need to download the settings.xml file and it will generate the correct
values.
Select a maven repository
click set me up
click on generate settings
click on download snippet
The settings.xml will have the passwords and so on in it.
It's a little harder to find than it used to be, I had to dig for it a bit
to find it.
