The fact that those tabs can be closed at all is a pyqtgraph bug. Apply this patch: https://github.com/m-labs/artiq/blob/master/misc/pyqtgraph-do-not-close-nonclosable-docks.patch I submitted a pull request but they are very slow to merge it.
