SYNTH_SEQUENCER troubles

Greetings. I discovered arts after messing around with several Windows-based synth editors and found none of them to be worth what "they" (the money grubbing corporate money-grubbers) wanted for them (usually 500-1000 USD). So, being a linux enthusiast I looked for a linux-based solution. Lo and behold there was arts. I love it. It functions exactly how I think a synth editor should. But...   I have one problem. I read and executed the steps in the tutorial to familiarize myself with the whole arts setup. I get to a point in the tutorial where I add a SYNTH_SEQUENCER module and find my results to be not what the tutorial seems to indicate. Instead of hearing audible notes, I hear what sounds like someone hitting a hammer on a piece of wood. I tried changing the seq value to a host of different things and I get the same results. Is this something with my setup or am I doing something wrong? I know you'll need some kind of information relating to my setup, but I have no idea how to obtain such information under arts. So that would be the first step, I figure. If anyone feels like lending a hand to clear my confusion, it would be appreciated. Thanks   Michael Durrant [EMAIL PROTECTED]
