Hi all,

Information found below about a workshop with strong connection to ongoing ARTS development. For example, there should be some workshop contribution(s) associated with the database of single scattering properties we are developing.

Bye,

Patrick

_*Save-the-date*_

*1st Summer Snowfall Workshop
*

*Scattering and microphysical properties of ice particles*

*28-30 June 2017, University of Cologne, Germany*

Dear colleagues,

as a follow-up of the productive discussion about microwave ice and snow scattering properties at the last IPWG-IWSSM workshop in Bologna, we want to organize a 3-day workshop at the University of Cologne (Germany) from 28-30 June 2017.

The main goals of this workshop are to:

_discuss the progress in developing single scattering databases:_

  * Existing and ongoing scattering databases
  * Definition of scattering data structure and conventions
  * Scattering database interface tools
  * Scattering database repository

_their applications:_

  * Bulk scattering properties
  * Scattering approximations
  * Particular requirements for passive and active applications
  * Guidelines and best practices for database users

_and to bridge the gap between scattering and microphysical properties of snow:_

  * In-situ properties of ice and snow particles
  * Observational constraints for scattering datasets

For the preparation of the workshop we would appreciate if you could provide us your feedback about your interest in attending the workshop before February 3rd 2017. More information and the link to the registration page will follow in a separate email.

Kind regards,

Stefan Kneifel and Dmitri Moisseev
