does anyone know how well the cash for guns initative fared? It almost seems, to me, that there has been a little more gun related violence in a the weeks since the program. I witnessed a shooting in bradley park. i have recently read of other incidents in the city, including one on 2nd ave where a 16 year old, brandishing a gun, and a companion accosted a city man.i couldnt help but imagine if it was dfsavgny being accosted, as the man went on the offensive and slashed the attacker with his keys. This resulted in a blood trail that led the cops to the teenager. i am curious if this may be somewhat related to the guns for money program. i dont know how much was being offered for guns, but i cant imagine it was much. i can easily see someone being offered more than the city was offering for a gun by someone else in the neighborhood, resulting in a gun that was collecting dust being placed into active play. i don't want to come off as disagreeing with the GFC program, just curious if anyone else has thoughtys on the topic.
