I head an ominous rumour which I am relucant to repeat lest I will now be labeled an anti-semite by someone montitoring this forum, but as usual, I throw caution to the wind. I have heard, but can't confirm, that the orthodox community from Lakewood is purchasing a lot of property in AP. This rumour, as it goes, suggests that waste is being laid on AP on purpose in order to permit the orthodox community to purchase at low price and turn AP into a primarily orthodox community. I think it is far fetched, because while there may be relative bargains on the west side, there aren't many east of main. Please don't crucify me (no pun intended) for repeating this rumor. Whether the waste being laid is intentional for some motive or reluctance to spend money, or just plain stupidity, I don't know, but I lean to not wanting to invest any more funds. Looking at the redevelopment agreement I see that the city CANNOT condemn Asbury Partners' property without its permission, as I once suggested. There is of course, NJ's Abandoned Property Law which is a longshot but perhaps could be used for the Casino, etc. The only other way, short of something illegal being done and the deal/plan becoming null and void, is to turn up the heat. The squeaky wheel gets the grease as they say. We have no chance of having Fishman perform or agree to get bought out at a reasonable price if the city doesn't take agressive action. That inlcudes everything from trash violations to prosecuting default of the agreement, to dragging its feet in exercising eminent domain, etc. It is really a shame and I don't know why the current council doesn't see it. A new council should probably ask the US Attorney's office to look at the deal again. Yahoo!
