I think one of the top issues AP has to face is the parking situation. I
think the city would be very wise to look at cities like New Brunswick who
have several large parking garages throughout the city. Asbury Park could
use much more parking in the downtown area and desperately needs additional
parking by the oceanfront to handle special events.
For example, every time there is a concert or event at Convention Hall,
parking is hard to find anywhere along the oceanfront or lake area. Since
the city will most likely still have other events taking place (Stone Pony,
Wonder Bar, Circuit, Asbury Lanes, etc.) I think it's important for those
businesses to be able to survive as well and it's difficult to have people
walking a mile or more to a show at a club.
