Dan,

You and I are discussing two different time periods. I'll take
responsibility for that because my post didn't mention a time period.

I was referring to Asbury's fall, from the latter 1950's to the
early 1990's. The series of events that brought AP down had nothing
at all to do with corruption. Yet, and this is unfortunate, people
who like to pass off thier best guess as facts will just
cite "corruption" as thier conclusion. It simply wasn't so.

Regarding the prior adminsitration that has members in or going to
jail, obviously they are well past Asbury's fall and had nothing to
do with it. Also, a review of their record reviels no corruption
was completed by them. Condos was a conspiracy to get a job for
himself that never actually occurred. Butch Saunders went to jail
for private tax evasion, having nothing at all to do with Asbury
Park. The only completed piece of corruption by that group would be
Hamilton's driveway, but he is innocent until proven otherwise.
Even if he is guilty, his driveway was not the downfall of AP.

As for Weldon, his crime was in Ocean Township. Chris Christie
doesn't seem to think Terry did anything untoward in AP.

The point is, none of those people's transgressions had anything to
do with AP, so why include it in our history? If you are looking to
write thier life stories, that's another matter.

Christina's movie is very important to folks like me. Asbury Park is
personified in it, so for many of us, it feels as if she is telling
our own life story; our family history. If all your famiy births,
educations, marriages and deaths were here, if your childhoold
recreations were here, if all of your best memories as well as your
bruised knuckles and blackened eyes were here, if your personality
is seen by others as being connected with this place, then
Christina's movie certainly is discribing who you are. That's why I
feel I have as much at stake in her movie being perfect as she
does. I wish her the best, I have confidence in Christina as
an "old school" Asbury Parker, and I hope she thoroughly
investigates all facts with real historians, and not these
reletively new fakers running around today.
