Whomever was attacking GG (also known as Fireguy) is about to lose all credibility. There were so many incorrect facts it's hard to figure out where to begin, but let me try.
Lie: He never took the civil service test. Truth: He passed it. Lie: He couldn't pass the physical. Truth: He did. Lie: He was appointed by Weldon. Truth: He was appointed by Chief Murphy and Terry Reidy. Lie: Fire Inspector is an unnecessary patronage position. Truth: I guess you weren't here in the '80's when all those people died in that boarding home fire. It is an extremely important position in a City with aging buildings. Then there is the comment about him being a Cabana boy. He was a teenager. So what? What job did you have as a teenager, brain surgeon? His father has been a loyal public servant to Asbury Park his whole life. You never hear anything about political involvement of his father. He has always been a real class act around here. Lastly, if I sound a little peeved about the whole thing, I am. There are certain old school families in Asbury Park that will stick together forever.
