Title: Re: [AsburyPark] asbury  partners

and yet the city chose to do some changes, or amendments, over a default to get asbury partners possiably out all together?  its going to take 6months to make the plan, then probably another 6 to get the plan in motion.  this should have been done a long tiem ago, yes?  that right there, is eveidence that even the city council is not thinkning right.  or maybe im wrong, and there was no deadline for casino or convention hall plans?

While attending meetings to try to get the New Jersey Music Hall of Fame located in the Casino, I pretty much got the idea that Asbury Partners had zero idea what they were going to do with the space.  In fact, I could be wrong but I got the impression that they never even thought of making it a shopping mall until Tri-City News came out and blasted them for the shopping mall idea. Some people kind of indicated to me that TCN might have actually spurred that idea because they didn’t know what to do with the area.  I think they were hoping that nobody would notice until the condos were all built.

I think that in addition to the city NEEDING to do something immediately like a default – they should have the people decide what will happen to that area.  Let’s have people propose plans and lobby for what they think should be done and then have the people vote on it.  I know we have some influential people who believe in the idea of the New Jersey Music Hall of Fame and there are other people who don’t understand what we’re talking about.  Why not give us a chance to present a plan to the people and let other organizations present a plan and let the people decide.

Asbury Partners clearly has stalled for the past few years with regards to the Casino and Convention Hall properties.  The city cannot listen to their requests for more time.  Action must be taken.  Why not let the people decide what is based for the city rather than developers who have chosen to ignore the properties sold to them for the very reason of protection?  If the city had the money to maintain and improve those properties they most longer would never have been sold, so why let Asbury Partners get away with having them just rot away?
