While I know many of the nswers are tongue in cheek, you miss the 
point. We can agree to abide by the rules if we know what the rules 
are. While it is a purported NJ state rule to not park within 25 
feet of a corner, it is 20 feet in NY (never seen it enforced). And 
while ignorance of the law is no defense, there is something just 
wrong with citation by ambush. Painted curbs or modest signs or some 
other solution that meets the majority's aesthetics can be worked 
out. As for using appraisal skills, while I may say ceiling heights 
are APPROXIMATELY 16 feet, I can not approximately break the law. 
There was no measurement of the 25 feet. The officer has no idea 
EXACTLY how far away the cars were (before he brought the tape 
wheel). Remember that the next time you get a speeding ticket. I'll 
give you a freebie. Plead not guilty and defend yourself. They can 
NEVER prove it.
