A quote from today's APP regarding taxes in Red Bank. "That's great, it's phenomenal that we're bringing in ratables," said Tim Blankley of South Street. "The budget is $8.1 million. Let's get that down."
What's wrong with this picture? Red Bank had a 2000 Census population of approximately 12,000, roughly 75% of AP's. Yet the budget for Red Bank is only 25% of AP's. Go to City Hall and get a copy of the payroll for city employees. You will be surprised. How many city vehicles do we have? I heard over 75 (unsure if that includes police and fire). We are paying insurance on all of them. Spending is out of hand. Imagine if we really had to fnd our own schools? We'd really be in trouble. We are headed for disaster if spending is not cut. And we keep on bonding for new expenditures. No one is watching the piggy bank. Give them more rateables and they will simply spend more of your money.
