Your talk of crime stats is only part of the picture. A lack of virtues and values doesn't always wind up on police blotters. Broad categories like lying, cheating, infidelity, unethical corporate and professional practices, hypocritical clergy, rigged bookkeeping, incompetents appointed to political positions, war profiteering, tax cheats, knowledge or complicity in any of those. Most of those don't make sensational headlines or show up here for discussion. Having said that, I'm all for cleaning up the town and police enforcement of laws. But let's not all be too self-righteous. _ ========Original Message======== Subj: [AsburyPark] Re: Smart Towns Date: 12/22/2006 8:25:25 A.M. No, I wouldn't be hard pressed at all. Just go to the Asbury Park Press website and look at that crime stats for each town in the County over the last decade. The correlations jump off the page. Even your white collar crime scenario doesn't hold water. What town had more politicians arrested than any other in the county over the past decade, even if you include operation bid rig? Take one guess. _ (http://select.nytimes.com/search/restricted/article?res=F30915F7345A0C768CDDAB0994DE404482)
