You are absolutely right about everything you just said, and I always respect your opinion here. And it's true that i've done some negative posting, big time. Recently, i've started to try and notice some of the good things, not just the bad. It's sad to me that "the plan" ignores one of the basic concepts that Asbury is known for...music. It's always been a part of our history. And, music tourism compared to destination tourism is much less seasonal. Cities like Seattle, Austin, Boston, NYC etc. present great music year round. I tend to think that year down residential use is going to be much less successful then it was intended to be. It'll probably also bring a huge dose gentrification that will drive long time residents away, because it's entirely possible that a huge residentail boom would drive taxes up so high that some might not be able to afford living here anymore. That's what's happening in Red Bank. Sure, lot's of people like the "new" Red Bank. Those are the affluent people who can afford to shop and dine there...if they can find parking. Below the surface, Red Bank is losing residents who've been there long term because they can't afford it anymore. One of their council women resently resigned. One of the reasons she cited is that the taxes in RB now exceed her income. I've heard this from quite a few people. She also said that the Red Bank she invested in isn't the Red Bank that she loves, and I completely agree with her. --- In AsburyPark@yahoogroups.com, "wernerapnj" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > > --- In AsburyPark@yahoogroups.com, "Hinge" <hinge98@> wrote: > > > > Why is it that posts about positive things happening in AP rarely > > become a thread compared to things like posts about the Convention > > Hall lights? > > Of course, I started a thread about some successful music events > etc > > but nobody has anything to add.
