Yes the Palace was put up for sale, at a rediculous price. Planned failure. And it was only for half the Palace property. The Southwest portion of the building, the Scooter Cars, was not included. That new road that was created was already part of the plan. The Northern section (Tillie), the Carousel House and the Ferris Wheel site were for sale for $2.5 Million. (corrections welcome on that number) That would be for an empty shell of a building that needed serious rehabilitation. The 'deal' was designed to fail from the start. I even had a talk with Larry Fishman about this attempting to convince him that it was in his best interests to sell the Palace cheap and have someone else invest several million dolars into it. That would cause an increase in ajoining property values theat Larry owned without him having to spend his money. That logic was lost on him, he was only interested in getting the most for that property, ended up getting nothing, and the site is a pile of rubble. The greatest loss is to the City since that would have been a significant tourist draw and tax ratable. Werner Yahoo!
