know we have a local news opperation keeping an eye on things. Also
a big thank you should go to the historical society for bringing
this to focus. Again anoth goup keepin an eye on things. It said
the historical society is storing several items from the casino.
Are these the items that are to be reused? What is the historical
society's role in the rebuilding for the casino? Any members read
this board? Werner?
====================================================================

This story was handed to the Coaster by a local resident, they did
not discover it. In any case, good they decided to write about it.

Although, as I previously wrote, the public gave up its interest in
that building when it was sold. There are only minimal requirements
and protections from a historic perspective.

Specific parts of the building are to reused - "if possible"

The historical society has no official role, it is a private
membership club. Certainly they can raise issues such as this but
its too late to be complaining about the loss of our historic assets.

That road was decided years ago.

It was reported that a lamp from the Casino was donated to them.
The "press" about the society being involved is fluff to make the
public believe that there is concern for the City's heritage.

Just so you know, I am the founder of the historical society and
have been exiled from it just as the City has done regarding my
position as City Historian. I spearheaded the formation of a
preservation committee and that has also disbanded.

There are forces at work in Asbury Park that discourage due process,
use of assets (both people and things) and preservation.
