ASBURY PARK Police arrested four city women on prostitution charges after
they flagged
down undercover police officers and offered sexual services for a fee,
authorities said.
Police said they also arrested a 35-year-old Neptune man for loitering in the
area.
The arrests were made as part of an undercover, ongoing operation to combat
prostitution
throughout the city, Capt. David Kelso said.
Thursday's arrests were made in the afternoon along the beachfront area, he
said.
The women flagged down undercover male officers who were in an unmarked police
car,
said Kelso.
Charged with engaging in prostitution were: Lisa Casella, 48, and Kimberly
Brown, 39,
both of Fourth Avenue; Carol Pennington, 49, of First Avenue, and Cathy Nunn,
37, of Deal
Lake Drive.
Police found a syringe on Nunn, who was also charged with possession of drug
paraphernalia.
Three of the women also had outstanding municipal court warrants for their
arrest:
Pennington was wanted by Belmar, while Casella and Brown were wanted in Wall,
police
said.
Jason Stevens, 35, of Abbott Avenue in the Ocean Grove section of Neptune was
arrested
Thursday in the same area and charged with loitering for purpose of engaging in
prostitution.
The four women were sent to the Monmouth County Jail. Bail for Nunn was set at
$2,500;
bail for the other three was set at $7,500.
All of the charges are disorderly persons offenses.
