Asbury Park already houses many homeless people.  

The housing authority provides homes through federal housing and the 
old section 8 program. Close to 900 households. Some of those 
people/families pay nothing because they can't.  Those people ARE 
homeless, if not for Asbury Park housing them.

So no, we don't need a shelter here.  We do enough.  That's the point 
of the people that oppose the shelter.  It's a question of degree - 
how much is Asbury expected to do with limited resources, while others 
with more resources do less?

By the way:

Asbury Park federally subsidized housing: 13%

Long Branch federally subsidized housing: 10%


If you are going to moralize with Mario, give him a call when Long 
Branch passes 13%.
