Like many others, you are misinterpreting what restoration and preservation are. Your comment is mixing up issues. Certainly modernization needs to take place that accommodates current needs of usability - its called an elevator in your example :-) And, yes the basic 'bones' of the building are there. That is the point, it is acknowledged as a significant architectural element within the landscape. The significant features are its ORIGINAL materials, colors and finishes. It is a unified concept of design not a restaurant attached to a bandshell. 'Playing with art deco flair' has no meaning if the building is to be restored as designed and built architecturally. > > If they bring in the entertainment, finish CH and Paramount and bring > in top entertainment...and people - then you have to give a little. Regardless of what they do to other buildings the PLAN acknowledges that the Pavilion is historically significant and specifies that it be restored. You would not suggest that since they are bringing in top entertainment that the Paramount be gutted and remodeled or the Convention Hall be stuccoed over, would you? One does not ignore significant promises that were negotiated as part of the deal. ConHall, Casino, and 5th Ave Pavilion - to be retained and restored. > > Werner was right - the "general" public was held back until he press > and employees were seated. > We are just the ones supporting the City through taxes :-( Werner Yahoo!
