Approaching StormRAIN DEVELOPS AFTER MIDNIGHT AND THEN MIXES WITH AND CHANGES TO SNOW BY MORNING SNOW ENDS AROUND MIDDAY SATURDAY/OFF AND ON FLURRIES MAY LINGER INTO SATURDAY NIGHT...BUT WATCHING FOR A BURST OF SNOW POSSIBLY DEVELOPING SATURDAY AFTERNOON 1 TO 3 INCHES OF SNOW EXPECTED Membership Feedback FEBRUARY 10TH - 12 NOON Brief update to discuss a developing trend on the forecast guidance. An inverted trough will be hanging back westward from the offshore storm system Saturday afternoon and the guidance seems to be keying in on the central NJ/northern NJ area for this trough to set up. What this means is that a band of a heavier burst of snow could occur in this area Saturday afternoon. Inverted trough situations are difficult to pin down because they usually impact a fairly narrow area, but the forecast models are converging on our area for Saturday afternoon. Sometimes these can produce a persistent band of snow that persists over the same area....something to watch out for tomorrow. My computer access will be limited this weekend, I will try to put out brief updates on this site, but no further e-mails will be sent FEBRUARY 10TH - 8AM Developing low pressure ahead of an arctic cold front will develop precipitation in the area tonight. When temps to near 50 today and in the 30s tonight, precipitation will be in the form of rain at the start but as the storm deepens offshore, colder air will be drawn in from the north and the rain will mix with and change to snow. The changeover will occur before morning over inland sections and at the coast around or just after daybreak. Snow will continue through the morning and taper off the flurries around midday. Total accumulations of 1 to 3 inches are expected region wide although the higher end of the range has a higher probability over inland sections and in northern NJ. Roadways should see just a slushy accumulation. Although snow may end around Noon, flurries may continue on and off through the afternoon and evening. With temps falling Saturday afternoon and continue to fall to near 20 Saturday night, roadways could become slippery Saturday night. A cold day on Sunday will be followed by moderation early next week © Tri-State Storm Watch. All rights reserved.
