This is a shot in the dark but it could be that your Windows XP Home
has Service Pack 2 installed on it by now and the Windows XP Pro CD
you have does not have Service Pack 2 integrated into it. Therefore
XP Home with SP2 might believe it is newer than XP Pro without.
If you are looking to re-do your OS anyway you cannot go wrong with
backing up, writing zeros to the drive, and reinstalling XP Pro
clean.
