Thanks Barua. Actually I am in the look out for a word or two, not a sentence. It is for our library - people can talk, but not loud enough - we can't expect them not to make any sound or not to talk but respect others and be considerate of and not disturb others . I have only 1.5 inches of space to put a word or two in my language on a flyer, along with many other languages.
What do they write in the libraries in Assamese in Assam? Or do they even write that in Assamese? 'laahe laahe kotha paatibo'? how do they say 'quiet area'? 'Nistobdho' would mean total silence - no noise at all. 'Xaanto jega' would mean peaceful - would mean much more than just being quiet, 'hulosthul nokoribo' wouldn't fit either. It sounds so easy but it is so difficult to get the right meaning sometimes, especially if it has to be short, isn't it? Thanks again.
