Hi Alpana
( Sorry I always address persons by their name, without sounding
disrespectful )
Yes, you can obtain an OCI ( Overseas Citizenship of India ). Please refer
the website
http://www.indianembassy.org/consular/Overseas_Citizen/OCI.html
I recently got one through the Indian Consulate, Canberra. Basically you get
a visa like stamp(with pic ) on your passport and also a separate passport
like document. I guess carrying the passport with the OCI visa is good
enough for travels to India.
I was annoyed at having to get to a visa to visit my country and my native
land when millions of B'deshis just cross over the border and become Assam
citizens.
