The focus of this discussion is not about the faults and deficiencies of the Hindu religion. The centerstage of the debate is.......whether or not, tribals have been a part of Hinduism. The available datas clearly points in the affirmative. Gandhiji once remarked, "we were strangers to this sort of classification....animist/aborginist etc, because I know that inspite of being described as animist these tribes have, from times immemorial have been absorbed in Hinduism. They are like the indigenous medicine, of the soil, and their roots lies deep there." Anyway, what is the difference between Hindu form of worship and the tribal's animism? Hindus too worship snakes on Nag Panchami, trees on Vat Savitri and cows.
