Hi,

I have opted for MEd in Primary (Elementary) education as my preffered choice -at Stanford, Harvard, Univ. of Calif, Berkeley ant Columbia Univ. ---I was loking forward to Princeton but it seems they don't have MEd course (Going from the Land of Kinggs {Rajasthan state} to University of Princes would have been stylish).  I'll confirm by email from Princeton though.
I may state that although these Universities sound high and mighty - I feel a twinge of regret - when I remember our own Takshila (now near Lahore Pakistan) and Nalanda Univ -which were destroyed by the invaders.

India too can have excellent Universities -IITs are a good example --but on the whole economic prosperity of the country is a prerequisite.

Here Allahabad University -- recently made a central Univ -during my stay here (Are my emails in anyway responsible for it?? -- I'd like to think soo!!)

Hey what happened just now --I white Hindu sadhu (holy man) of ISKCON just came in the cybercafe -barely speaking English -I've just purchased 4 books inn English from him --yesterday too I met one in the market --This fellow is Russian.
Was checking some words in Russian and saying them in Hindi --Dhanyawad he said in Hindi (Thank u) and that these will give me Sukh Dengi (give me peace)
He is coming from Vrindawan and will go to mayapur -West Bengal (where ISKCON founder Prabhupad hailed) I too can learn from Prabhupad -a grandfather who after retiring from household life fulfilled his Guru's wish and sailed to USA penniless to relieve them of their mental worries and dissatisfaction -a cure from drugs. I wonder how he managed to stay there -given the VISA problems .
The local people don't seem to be reverant or well disposed towards them - seem to be rather embarrassed to talk to them --perhaps because of the conditioning imposed on them by their Christian and "western" saturated Hindu holy town of Allahabad.. The city roads are still named after long driven away Britishers.

And the Allahabad Univ. is heralded as the "Oxford of the East" ---
British Raj hangover still remains in this beautiful town which somewhat resembles ChandiGarh and Bhopal.

I think unless some well meaning Pan Indian or Pan Hindu educational institutions such as Bhartiya Vidya Bhavan or Delhi Public School don't
set up shop here -this hangover will not go. The same can be said of Patna in Bihar.

Hopefully the West adoring populace will fund me in setting up such an institution in a land which is a veritable paradise (2 large rivers, silt covered flat fertile lands and so much greeenery) .

Prayag seems so to me perhpas becos I hail from one of the driest and hottest regions in the world --Churu town in Rajasthan (thar desert) which routinely records the highest temperature in India 49 degrees I think -- and alsso the coldest -0 degrees --and if someone carelessly ventured out of time in summers he would die of thirst and dehydration within hours. Even Jaipur where I stay now is in constant danger of getting evacuated -becos of NO WATER.

Given this background I agree with the muslim invaders from Saharan and Arabian deserts -when they chose to set up camps near major rivers (allahabad) and lakes (Bhopal , Hyderbad, Ajmer).

I too want to set up shop here -- Muslims have always been wary of desert people of Rajasthan --prefering to leave them alone --- and hopefully will learn too adjust when Hindu desert people take over Allahabad. Allahabad Hindus seem afraid of green clothes I wear - mistaking me for a muslim. Green is the colour of paradise and greenery - for any desert person --be it an Arabian - Prophet Muhammad or Indian -Umesh

My train was due to leave at 10:30 - but it got caught somewhere after leaving Gauhati (Assam) and is late by 8 hours. So I'm debriefing myself for my next mission -applying to US Universities and SOPs and LORs.

Did u follow what I wrote?

Umesh
