...and what about the "in god we trust" on all us currency notes? doesn't that tantamount to forcing individuals who wish to have no such trust to have one because they MUST use only those currency notes?

speaking of which, and slightly off-topic, there is actually no separation of the church and state in england. the state church is the church of england and only anglicans may become head of state, who is not allowed to marry a catholic!
