From Hydrocarbon Processing magazine:
Which nations attract the most creative thinkers? A "creative crescent" of northern European countries is challenging the economic power of the US and "old Europe," according to a new study. Countries such as Finland, Denmark and Sweden are leading the traditionally powerful European economies of France and Germany. "Although the UK has a strong creative class, it is not growing its innovation and technology capacity as quickly as its Nordic neighbors," says the report. The research ranks countries according to three interlinked factors posited to be indicators of a nation's creative potential: talent, technology and tolerance. Other ingredients include R&D investment, patent awards and the proportion of university-educated people. The report, "Europe in the Creative Age," can be downloaded from www.demos.co.uk/creativeeurope and www.creativeclass.org.
