But will it make any sense to the ULFA leaders who do not believe in democracy

*** That seems to be an astute observation however.
How long will the majority in Assam without guns tolerate the the small band with guns?
*** Majority in Assam without guns sounds like a terrifying
prospect for sure.
But then again, majority of Indians are without guns too. Aren't
they? And how about Americans? If I had to take a wild a-- guess, I
might suggest the majority of Americans are without guns too. Only
exception might be the great democratic land of Texas, where the
congress-men change their rules to allow their leader to remain so,
even if indicted for criminal charges. Also, why else would the great
warrior from Texas, G W Bush, strike a Gary Copper pose from Gunfight
at the OK Corral ( or wasa it Last Train from Gunhill?) in a recent
group photo, ready to pull a couple of imaginary Colt 45s, while
Cheney looks away and Rove hands wringing, looking at his toes (
embarrassed perhaps)?

[In a clear message to ultras, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today declared that power in India flows from the ballot box and not the barrel of a gun and asserted there was no issue or grievance that was intractable.
"In the final analysis, power in India can only flow from the ballot box, never from the barrel of a gun," he told the Diamond Jubilee celebration of 'The Shill! ong Times' here.
Singh, who is on a three-day visit to the North East, said "there is no issue, no grievance that is so intractable that it cannot be resolved through a patient, constructive dialogue, free from pre-condition".
The Prime Minister said "This is the only possible way forward. Our democratic system is open enough, resilient enough and flexible enough to welcome the participation of all shades of opinion". ]
