Congratulations to Hazarika & his team. AIM is doing a great job.
Out of nest with flying colours - Good grooming & placement cell help students get jobs A STAFF REPORTER April 26: With one out of every four graduates hitting the jackpot in the high-end job market this year, the Assam Institute of Management (AIM) can afford to give itself a big pat on the back. The only fully autonomous management institute in the country to be promoted by any state government, AIM students have come out with flying colours by landing plum jobs in top companies of the country. The companies which have recruited AIM's students include Hindustan Lever Limited, Eveready Industry and Kotak Mahindra. This, when the institute does not even have a building to call its own. It has been operating out of rented premises ever since its inception in 1994. Of the 51 students who received their degrees at the 10th convocation last week, 13 students have been recruited by big companies so far. More companies are expected to conduct recruitment drives, a faculty member said. "I am sure the other graduates also stand a very good chance to get the jobs they want," he added. "The placement cell at our institute has been a great help," said Sashi Verma, one of the lucky 13. The cell has been operational since the institute's inception, but it is over the last couple of years that it has achieved success. Last year, it provided 50 per cent placement. "Our concern is not only to provide degrees to the students, but also to help them get lucrative jobs," said Shantikam Hazarika, director of AIM. The institute publishes placement brochures, containing details about the institute, its courses and short bio-data and photographs of the students, every year. These brochures are distributed among several companies. "Sometimes the companies directly contact the students or may get in touch with us," Hazarika said. He said leading companies come for campus selection all year round. "Within a few months of completion of the course, all the students get jobs of their choice. We groom the students well. Management skills, knowledge of socio-economic affairs and the right attitude helps them to get jobs even before they complete their course," he said. The 10-year-old institute provides two programmes for post-graduate diploma inbusiness management. _______________________________________________ Assam mailing list [email protected] http://pikespeak.uccs.edu/mailman/listinfo/assam Mailing list FAQ: http://pikespeak.uccs.edu/assam/assam-faq.html To unsubscribe or change options: http://pikespeak.uccs.edu/mailman/options/assam
