Title: Re: [Assam] Assam Watch

>While reading an article  on terrorism,I spied upon one ,written by Kuldip S >Ludra, former deputy director of Institute for Strategic Research and Analysis,>in which, he mentions Assam Watch as an organization that >Assam's independence. has been demanding

*** Does the fact that AW ">has been demanding Assam's independence." as reported by the illustrious "Kuldip S Ludra, former deputy director of Institute for Strategic Research and Analysis ( I looked him up at the web--quite an illustrious  intellectual--him:-)) automatically disqualify any claim made by such a group in support of "--oppression of the individual by the state" ?

Like for example, should Woodward and Bernsteins cracking open the Watergate 'kelenkari' have been dismissed out of hand then. or demonized now, because deepthroat turned out to be an FBI director, who was leaking out 'state secrets, heh-heh,' illegally?

Then again, even if Assam Watch, or Mookool Hazorika is demanding Assam's independence, as in Ludra's laments, does it make them especially despicable :-)? As far as I know, and as quite a few in this list know, that a great many people in Assam do exactly the same, some overtly, and some not-so-overtly, for obvious reasons. Are they too therefore not  just as despicable, if viewed thru the 'security' lens of Ludra who seem to hold imperial rights to Assam ?

Finally, why do WE have to give two hoots about what the luddite Ludra thinks, or believes, rightly or wrongly?

Many of us must be familiar with the Bangla adage that goes like this--" bhooter mukhe ram nam",the loose correspondence of which will be--" devil quoting scriptures".What has the axiom got to do with " Assam Watch",you must be wondering? It was a happenstance on my part. While reading an article  on terrorism,I spied upon one ,written by Kuldip S Ludra, former deputy director of Institute for Strategic Research and Analysis,in which, he mentions Assam Watch as an organization that has been demanding Assam's independence.I know the existence of one Assam Watch, located in UK,formed by some " Eurokhuwas" ( read,European Kharkhuwas),the helmsman of the said organisation is Doctor Mookool Hajorika ( hoping this to be the correct transliteration of his name). The organization claims to be a watchdog group, whose objective is to emphasize the oppression of the individual by the state. Is there an organization ,bearing the identical name that demands Assam's independence?
