In fact, multi-lingual support has nothing to do with JES2. The program producing the output produced language specific output. The printer deals with printing the language (not conversion). JES2 is simply the intermediary. This is how it's most often done in Unix. I don't see why your expectations would be different for z/OS. >It feels like decades since I encountered this deficiency. FOLD is not a deficiency for JES2. This is not difficult to implement using JES2 exits, SAPI, sysout dataset attributes, printer attributes and more. If this was a problem for anyone else, they would have a solution. If enough customers were affected, IBM would have added the functionality. The real question is why have you waited decades to fix a deficiency that caused you so much grief? >What have developers been doing in the meantime? I hope >it's a replacement for JES2 and JES3. ROTFLOL, what are people doing with UNIX LPR until it supports FOLD, changing character sets or whatever you perceive as a JES2 problem? Why would IBM replace JES2 that has been so successful up to now? I don't see z/OS JES2 users flocking to z/OS Unix LPR any time soon.
