OK, correct - I reinstalled RC09, and with "discarded" set to empty, 
it no longer writes emails out to that (or any other, as far as I can 
tell) directory.

Odd...since I've run RC09 again, I have seen two spam messages passed 
through ASSP where only a single line was added to the header:

That is the entire message header. ASSP added only the single line. 
It should have added quite a bit just based on the subject and the 
content of the message alone.
