you'd better go through all the logs; the ASSP ones, the SMTP ones
and the logs from whatever else *listening* on the system; an example,
if you have some kind of "sendmail" page sitting there, then that may
be the culprit :) at any rate, applying band-aids like you did is imVHo
a risky business, since you have an open hole, you know that, but you
are just applying a workaround and ... hoping it will work; sure, it
*may*
work, but then it may also hide from you some other issues
