The install script only checks that the openssl binaries are available,
because they are required by assp under certain cirumstances.
ASSP may run fine without the openssl binaries, until they are required at
any time.

AH. I bet that's how I got openssl on the machine then. From your perl
distro.
I don't need to be able to create certificates on the ASSP box, just have
SSL functionality for the admin console. SO - let me ask my hopefully
last
question on this:

I ask because I want to keep everything necessary up to date, especially
security stuff, but don't want to bother with compiling my own and
matching
the openssl binary version to what net::ssleay uses (if that's even
necessary) - and updating openssl on this machine with each of their
updates and worrying about net:ssleay being behind / incompatible.
Hope I'm being clear.
